As Barrister and Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Nigeria, Nafiu joined private practice as a counsel in the law firm of A.A. Malami, SAN & Co. As a counsel at A.A Malami SAN & Co., he acted as an advocate and solicitor both alone and together with other senior members of the firm. He appeared alone in many cases before State
High Courts, Federal High Courts and the Court of Appeals of Nigeria on several occasions.
He has been in private practice until 2015 when appointed as the Personal Assistant to the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice (Abubakar Malami, SAN, CON). He served in this positon until the end of the Buhari Administration in 2023. During the eight years period of his assignment, he had served as a member of many vital committees both within the Ministry of Justice and outside including the National Prosecution Committee. In 2016, Nafiu was also appointed by President Muhammadu Buhari as a member of the Governing Council of the Federal University Dutse where he mastered the rigors and technique of University Administration.
He brought to bare his legal experience both in the private and public sector in the execution of this assignment. As a result of his hard-work and excellence, he was appointed to chair the Senior Staff Disciplinary Committee, The Needs Assessment Committee of the University as well as being a member of several
other sensitive committee in the University including the Appointment and Promotions Committee, Finance and General Purpose Committee.
